I've been riding for only a year, so the learning process is fresh in my mind. I'm amazed, really, at how far I've come. Two weekends ago I took a 6-hour ride on wonderful country roads and discovered that I'm riding comfortably at a BMW pace--slower than the sportbikes but faster than the Harleys.
I've had 3 or 4 scary moments. Twice when deer ran across the road into my path of travel--I outran them. Once when I stupidly pulled into a line of traffic too soon--the driver braked before hitting me. Once when a maniac pulling out of a rest area just kept on coming instead of waiting til I had passed by--I dodged him.
Needless to day, I don't share these moments with my wife!
